Kiwi artist's impressive painting of Adele goes to auction on Trade Me

A widely-publicised, "larger than life" New Zealand painting of superstar Adele is being auctioned off on Trade Me; and it's already reaching impressive bid numbers. With one week to go, the Adele painting auction has already reached $870 with one week left to put in a bid.

The painting was a homage to the British singer by Northland super-fan, Whangarei artist Jessie Rose, who carefully painted glue on a blackboard to create a glittery masterpiece. Ms Rose listed the glitter painting for 1$, no reserve, with all profits going to KidsCan, a charity "doing incredible things to try and eliminate child hardship in NZ", she wrote in the auction's description. She painted the piece while standing on a trailer.

Ms Rose then finished her painting by throwing silver glitter at the board, as Adele's face magically appeared in full vision for the first time. "In... the lamest terms, it's probably a glitter painting but I don't know if I really like that," Ms Rose said while trying to describe her masterpiece to Seven Sharp last week.

"I just thought it could work and I really wanted to welcome her to New Zealand in a different way. "When you chuck the glitter on and it magically works and it looks how it's supposed to look it's awesome and it's a good feeling."

The artist says she has had many positive comments about the art, with people loving the concept. Inspired by Adele's strength and beauty, Ms Rose says she "would like her to know she's amazing".
